Best Islands in the Philippines

February 20, 2018

The Philippines is a world in itself, with over 7,100 islands covering a vast distance: many of which have never been explored or had a foot set upon them. Many others have become tourist havens, or a way for travellers to experience the Philippines “off the beaten track”.

With so much beauty, so many adventures and an abundance of endearing sights to see, planning a trip to the islands can be a little daunting. To help, here are our top choice islands to visit:

Cebu

Easily accessible with an airport nearby, Cebu is one of the most popular among tourists. There are amazing beaches, plenty of restaurant and accommodation options; and an abundance of activity. You can enjoy a range of watersports, including jet skiing and parasailing, cool down in the clear water pool at the bottom of Kawasan Falls and even swim with Whale Sharks off the coast!

Bohol

Just off Cebu is Bohol, where you’ll find the majestic Chocolate Hills! There are over 1,200 hills that range in height from 30 metres to 50 metres and depending on the season, they’re either brown in colour or green! Amazing to see. Bohol is also famous for the Tarsier – the world’s smallest monkey that calls the island home.

Palawan

There’s a reason this island is called the most beautiful in the world! It’s full of the most spectacular landscape, including jungles, mountains and crystal waters. It’s so astounding, that this island was actually where the novel The Beach was set. There are corals to explore and islets from the Bacuit archipelago provide a fantastic day trip.

North Luzon

This is the country’s biggest island and is filled with 2,000 year old rice terraces – these have actually been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The terraces are spread across 20,000km and are a sight you must add to your bucket list! While you’re there, also explore the stunning array of waterfalls.

Boracay

Basking in the sunshine on one of Boracay’s white sandy beaches is what draws tourists to this part of the Philippines. There are also plenty of water sports options, hotels, restaurants and a whole lot of fun to be had. One of the most popular tourist destinations in the country, there are 12 beaches in total where you can while away your vacation.
