Los Angeles is such an amazing place, it’s no wonder it is so famous across the globe. One place you should spend a week in on a North American tour is right here. Here are 5 of the thousands of things you really need to do in LA.
Griffith Observatory and Griffith Park
Griffith Observatory is located on the south face of Mount Hollywood and gives visitors impressive views of the surrounding area. The observatory hosts fascinating exhibitions and features a spectacular planetarium, and is home to the 12-inch Zeiss refracting telescope, which was installed in 1935, which has been viewed by more people than any other telescope on the planet.
Santa Monica Pier and Beach
Santa Monica is home to one of the most fabled beach scenes in the United States. Santa Monica also vaunts a wealth of fantastic restaurants, excellent nightlife spots and the famous Santa Monica Pier. Soft sand, idyllic weather and State Beach,(which was the backdrop for the TV series "Baywatch") attract thousands of tourists a day, and with one visit, you’ll understand why.
Universal Studios Hollywood
Possibly the most popular attraction in the L.A. would have to be Universal Studios Hollywood. Featuring amusements and rides created to replicate popular characters or scenes from movies and television. You can take the famous tram tour past Bates Motel from "Psycho." And you can meet characters from shows like Sponge Bob Square Pants and The Simpsons. There are terrifying rollercoasters, rides and 3-D motion-simulators. A must visit place for anyone with a love for film and TV.
Runyon Canyon Park
Just a couple of blocks from Hollywood Boulevard, Runyon Canyon Park is an amazing park that features spectacular views. From up high in the park, you can cast your eyes over the Pacific Ocean, San Fernando Valley, the famous Hollywood Sign and the Griffith Observatory. There are also some very good hiking trails that are very popular with celebrities for exercising.
Of course, one of the most well-known roads in the United States, Sunset Boulevard is also one of the most visited streets (or boulevards) on the planet. It’s easy to see where the glamorous Hollywood lifestyle evolved from when you take a walk down Sunset Boulevard. Famous for some of the world’s most famed live music venues like the now defunct House of Blues, the Roxy Theatre, Viper Room, and Whiskey a Go Go and the setting of many famous films, the palm-lined Boulevard connects downtown LA to Beverly Hills, Hollywood and the Pacific Coast Highway.
