One of the most amazing things about Cambodia is that there is so much for you to explore, which is why the Cambodia Discovery tour is an essential for those who want to experience the best of the country. From the ancient temples of Angkor to a cyclo tour around the city of Phnom Penh; paying respects at the prison camps of the Khmer Rouge, to visiting small villages and learning about non-profit endeavours in the region. You’ll meet the locals and learn about the past; along with relishing the enthusiasm they have for the future. Explore temples, take a guided walk through protected jungle, and spend a few days enjoying the views at your leisure. Day 1  

Phnom Penh Arrival


Arrive in the city of Phnom Penh where you will be met by a driver at the airport for an air conditioned transfer to your hotel.

Day 2   

History and Architecture


After breakfast, you’ll enjoy an introductory tour into Cambodia’s architectural history via cyclo. You’ll cyclo through the streets of the city to explore the astounding elements of the inner core; learning about the history of the buildings and the culture itself. Your guide is an architectural specialist who will gladly answer your questions. Enjoy lunch at your leisure.


In the afternoon, you’ll explore the Royal Palace and National Museum to explore the rich history of the country and into a journey of the past. Pre dinner, you’ll meet a Cambodian Chef who will guide you through the markets to sample some of the delicious local flavours being sold by street vendors, along the way.  For dinner, join the Chef, Mr Nara, at one of his favourite restaurants before you return to rest for the night.

Day 3  

Reminiscing and Moving Forward


Still in Phnom Penh, you’ll visit the former Khmer Rouge prison camp S21. This was once a school, however in 1976, the Khmer Rouge turned it into an interrogation, torture and execution centre where thousands of people were killed. In fact, of the 14,000 people who entered, there were just 7 survivors. You’ll have the opportunity to meet 2 of these survivors, both have gone on to write books about their experiences.


From S21, you’ll move on to the Killing Fields, where a memorial stupa has been erected to remind visitors of the countless innocent victims that perished under Pol Pot's brutal regime.

You’ll enjoy lunch at the nearby Friends Café, operated in support of a local NGO who works with poor and disadvantaged children to provide them with education and a better life. Then you’ll be collected by the team at MotoGirl to explore the city on the back of a pink motorbike!

Enjoy the afternoon, then return to your hotel to freshen up for dinner. Your guide will collect you at 6pm and take you to see Mr Veasna, a young chef who’ll take you to a private river-front apartment for a gourmet dinner.

Day 4  

Private City Cooking Class and Siem Reap


This morning you’ll meet with private chef Veasna for a tour of the local market to purchase the array of ingredients you’re going to need for your next adventure – a cooking class! Once you’ve got everything you need, you’ll be taken to the private city residence to begin your training and under Veasna’s watchful eye, you’ll feel as though you’re competing on Masterchef – at its finest. You’ll learn the secrets and enjoy the opportunity to work with a young culinary professional. Dishes ready, and it’s time to eat them yourself so check out the views from the private balcony on the waterfront and enjoy the flavours!


Tummies full, you’ll be transferred to the aiport for your onward flight to Siem Reap.

Day 5 

Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom Sunrise to Sunset

Today you'll awaken early to enjoy coffee and a snack before travelling to the brilliant Angkor Wat temple to watch the sunrise and enjoy an early morning tour of the complex while the temperatures are still pleasant and the crowds are at a minimum. Later in the morning, you'll return to your hotel for a sumptuous brunch before enjoying relaxing break in the garden, by the pool, sitting room, or anywhere else you desire.

During the early afternoon, you'll return to the temples and explore Angkor Thom, Cambodia's world famous walled city. Here you'll visit the enchanted temple of Bayon, witnessing magnificent sunsets that appear to make the temple radiate warmth and energy.

Day 6  

Banteay Srei, Other Temples and Art Class

In the morning, you'll your guide will take you to Banteay Srei, the meticulously sculptured monolith located around 30 kilometres outside of Angkor Wat. Following this, you'll travel back to the local temples, where you'll visit two of the most distinguished temples in the complex; Banteay Kdei and Ta Prohm. Upon your touring the temples, you will travel to schools to participate and assist students in an art class.

Day 7  

Kulen Mountain Forest Discovery Trail

An early morning start will see you on a guided hike through the beautiful, protected jungle of Phnom Kulen National Park. The national park is home to evergreens and boulders; and is an amazing sight – so don’t forget your camera (and your walking shoes).


Along the way, you’ll be able to ask you guide about the region, and he’ll tell you about conservation in the area. You’ll take a walk through the village, before you take to the trails into the forest. Hike along cleared trails, and make sure you say hello to the friendly locals that come to say hello – the flying squirrels and birds. Stop for lunch on the banks of the Kulen River before you go to PreahAng Thom to visit Cambodia’s largest reclining Buddha.

If time permits and you still have energy to go further, you can also include a visit to the Kulen Waterfall before heading back to your hotel to rest.

Day 8  

Siem Reap: Kayaking Tour and Phare Ponleu Selpak Circus


Today you'll have the chance to kayak upon Cambodia's world famous Tonle Sap river. You'll depart with the rest of the group at 8am and travel for around an hour, before taking a 40 minute boat trip to a traditional lake village. All homes in lake villages are perched high upon stilts, as the area is frequently flooded during the wet season.

Upon reaching the village, you'll venture to a local residence that houses canoes and following a kayaking safety briefing, you'll make your way through various waterways and flooded forests with your guide, who will eventually lead you to the Tonle Sap lake, where you're welcome to have a swim.

Following this, your guide will lead you back through the lake village, giving you a first-hand look at how the local villagers have managed to adapt their lifestyles to cope with this unique and sometimes treacherous environment. From here, you will journey back to the local village house to enjoy lunch, before taking a relaxing boat trip and car ride back to your hotel.

This evening, you are treated in the evening to the Phare Ponleu Selpak Circus, with VIP seats in the centre of the big top tent! Enjoy remarkable acrobatics and visual arts well into the evening.

Day 9  

Koh Kong Cambodia


After breakfast, your driver will pick you up and take you to the aiport for your connecting flight to Phnom Penh. From there, a driver will take you to Koh Kong, where you’ll be met by the 4 Rivers speedboat for hotel transfer. The journey takes around 4-5 hours.
